 JUNIOR HIGHSCHOOL(YEAR 7-9)

Students access a broad and balanced curriculum across Year 7-9, our curriculum is designed to provide tailored, flexible routes through the Academy. These are created through the combination of a range of courses and sensitive, flexible setting and grouping arrangements. The Key Stage 3 curriculum has been designed to prepare pupils for Key Stage 4 when they will access IGCSE and equivalent qualifications.

The Key Stage 3 curriculum comprises of core and  Skill based subjects.

Digital Art & Design

Preparation for art careers using digital technology – a blend of art, computers, and journalism; includes photography, graphic design, web design, video & audio editing, and animation.

  • Students work toward acquiring the Adobe Certified Associate credential
  • Extensive Work-Based Learning Opportunities

Science,Technology and Engineering

STEM helps young people become independent and reflective learners through enquiry-based project work

Topics covered are:

Green technology

At the end of this unit student will be able to:
• Explain the importance of recycling, reusing and reducing materials in design
• Describe some strategies for adopting Green Design practices.

Biotechnology

Modern biotechnology provides breakthrough products and technologies to combat debilitating and rare diseases, reduce our environmental footprint, feed the hungry, use less and cleaner energy, and have safer, cleaner and more efficient industrial manufacturing processes.

Material Technology

Students are introduced to Technology via integrated studies using metals, wood, plastic and fabric. They are encouraged to investigate, design, produce, analyse and evaluate their work. During the construction of their models and products, students are exposed to the use of various tools, materials and processes. Teaching emphasizes joining techniques, cutting techniques, an understanding of the materials used in construction, basic design skills and problem solving, product analysis and evaluation
