  • The ministry might decide to be monitoring and evaluating the child’s progress. The registration may be withdrawn if the minimum requirements are not met.

HOW TO START HOMESCHOOLING IN NAMIBIA

You first register with the ministry of education which it’s advisable to register with the home school association of the Namibia the governing body for all home schooling students.

It’s important to note if you register on the ministry of education website your register as private school and not as a homeschooler. That means if the government enforces a specific curriculum by the law you will be required to flow the curriculum.

Give the school the learner is attending a notice that you will withdrawing your child from the school.Ensure you have formal report cards of the completed grade from the school to facilitate transition to a homeschooling curriculum.

  • CAMBRIDGE PRIMARY

This is for learners aged between 6-11 years old. The curriculum is flexible you can shape it how you want your child to learn. The curriculum gives the student a window to choose 10 Subjects inclusive of Mathematics, Science and English. The curriculum it’s designed to develop your child’s creativity, expression and well-being. The learner has a window to follow the Cambridge lower primary curriculum alongside their Namibia national curriculum for a wide knowledge growth. At this stage subjects offered in any combination and adapted to suit your context and culture.

The learner can take a progressive test which is written at any time of the year when the learner is ready write. A successful pass will enabled the student progress to the next stage grade.

  • CAMBRIDGE LOWER SECONDARY

This is for learners in the age gap of 11-14 years. It prepares learners for upper secondary .The learner has 13 subjects including Mathematics, English and Science to choose from. The curriculum it’s designed to provide plenty opportunities to develop creativity, expression and well-being. The curriculum it’s flexible so you can also combine with the Namibia education curriculum and adapt the content, culture and ethics.

The curriculum offers a wide variety of optional assessments which include:

1.Measure potential Cambridge (CEM)This are computer based assessments they measure the learners potential and what they have learned. This helps improve an areas of weakness and reach their full potential in areas of strength. It’s used at the beginning or the end of the year

2.Monitor progress:(Cambridge progression tests) This are internal assessments that help you check the learners knowledge, skills and understanding. Available for the core subjects, English as a first language or second language, mathematics and science progression tests are marked by the tutor. They provide detailed information about learner’s performance, Compare strengths and weaknesses, they come with clear guidance standards and mark scheme.   • CAMBRIDGE UPPER SECONDARY

Cambridge IGCSE it’s divided into 2.

IGCSE core: The core curriculum it’s within the ability of the majority learners .It provides a full overview of subjects and its targets at students expected to achieve grade C to G

 IGCSE extended: The curriculum has been designed for the learners to be more academically excellent .Its targets at those learners expected to achieve grade A to E.

Cambridge IGCSE assessments takes place at the end of the course and can be done orally, writing, coursework and practical assessment. This gives window for students to show case their knowledge so far most especially those whom their first language it’s not English. Grades are bench marked using internationally recognized grades A* TO G which have clear guide lines to explain the standards of achievement for each grade. Past papers with mark schemes are available for each subject to download along with examiner reports. Exams are offered in June and November and results in August and January.   1. CAMBRIDGE O LEVEL CURRICULUM.

It offers learners Cambridge international As and A level. Cambridge As level it’s the minimum requirement for university acceptance while A levels are optional courses that help increase the likely hood of university acceptance. Take all papers of Cambridge international A level course in the same examination session usually it’s done at the end of the course.

Cambridge offers Cambridge international AS&A level examination twice a year in June and November and results are issued in august and January.

Each subject a learner takes receives a separate grade. The Cambridge A level is reported on a grade scale A*(highest) to E (minimum required performance) There is no A* grade for Cambridge international AS levels which run from A TO E.

Once a learner is placed on a specific Cambridge curriculum level, the transition to the Cambridge pathway from the Cambridge early age all the way to the Cambridge advanced levels should be smooth. Adjustments or extra support maybe be provided during the transition phase if needed.
